The name Didukh comes from the Ukrainian word "did," meaning "grandfather" or "ancestor." It literally translates as "the spirit of the ancestors."* The Didukh represents the enduring bond between generations, honoring those who came before us and preserving the continuity of family and tradition. According to Ukrainian folk beliefs, bringing the Didukh into the home invited the blessings of one's ancestors, along with peace, harmony, and prosperity.
